Nadal wins Australian Open and writes history

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal today wrote another chapter of tennis history by winning the Australian Open.

Nadal thus became the first tennis player to have 21 Grand Slam titles, and in the final he was better than Russian Daniil Medvedev with a score of 3:2 in sets (2:6, 6:7, 6:4, 6:3, 7:5).

It was a marathon match, which Medvedev started much better and managed to win the first two sets much easier than expected.

The Russian then missed the chances he had in the third set, and Nadal raised his level of play, primarily his serve. The Spaniard played much more aggressively afterwards.

Nadal won the next three sets, and in the fifth he could have finished the match earlier but did not use the first chance. However, in the end, he managed to achieve a break, take Medvedev's serve, and reach the historic title, thus surpassing Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic by one Grand Slam.
