MAGLAJ, (Patria) - The Liješnica River, which overflowed, destroyed residential and some commercial buildings, said the mayor of Maglaj municipality, Mirsad Mahmutagić, for the Patria agency.
He stated that a state of emergency has been declared in part of the Maglaj municipality, and that all flood defense measures have been taken, as well as that all Civil Protection teams are in the field.
Great fear is present among the residents of Maglaj due to the devastating floods of May 2014, when the town was under water.
Mahmutagić said that evacuations of the population who did not leave their residential buildings on time were carried out last night.
"Rain is still falling, we are monitoring the level of the Bosna River. Last night around midnight it was 515 cm, this morning it was decreasing to 380 cm, and in the last two hours it has been rising again," said Mahmutagić.
The situation is also difficult in other parts of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, with road and rail traffic hampered due to water and landslides on the roads.
