Vlašić Hopes for a Record Season, Everything Ready for 'Šankanje'

(Patria) - Numerous natural beauties make Bosnia and Herzegovina an increasingly popular tourist destination, and in the coming months, tourists from all over the world are expected on our mountains.

- We are planning the official opening of the winter season on Vlašić from December 13th to 15th, along with 'Šankanje'. We are finalizing all the details. Regarding the ski slopes, everything has been inspected, we are just waiting for more snow and we hope for a record season. When the ski season will start, I really don't know at this moment.



There is great interest in winter holidays on Vlašić, and most capacities are already booked. In addition to Vlašić, we are also recording tourism growth throughout the canton, especially in the city center of Travnik, where four hotels have been built in the last few years, and the 'Plava Voda' hotel is currently under construction. This is a great success because it means we are recognized as a favorite tourist destination - says Miroslav Matošević, director of the Tourist Board of the Central Bosnia Canton.

Accommodation capacities on Vlašić are growing year by year.

Another hotel is expected to open soon, and a large number of apartments and weekend houses are being built.

Regarding the 13th edition of 'Šankanje', the organizers have prepared a high-quality and diverse program again this year.

Thus, on December 13th, Saša Matić, Ivana Selakov, and DJ Shone will perform, and the next day Milica Todorović, Šejla Zonić, and DJ Atila.

- 'Šankanje' has become a recognizable brand among the younger population and currently holds the status of the best winter festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first 'Šankanje' was organized in 2011 and has been held traditionally on Mount Vlašić in the second half of December ever since, attracting an increasing number of visitors. This year too, concerts will be held in a fair-festival tent measuring 60x20 meters, which can accommodate over 3,000 people - emphasize the organizers of 'Šankanje'.
