Suspect in Sremska Mitrovica murder arrested in Sokolac

(Patria) - A suspect in the aggravated murder in Sremska Mitrovica, identified by initials M.R., along with A.S., who is charged with aiding in the commission of the criminal offense, was arrested in Sokolac, the Ministry of the Interior (MUP) of Republika Srpska announced.

M.R. is from Sremska Mitrovica and is a citizen of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, while A.S. is from Gradiška.

The statement notes that M.R. is suspected of the criminal offense of aggravated murder in connection with Article 38 on incitement, while A.S. is suspected of committing the criminal offense of aiding the perpetrator after the commission of the criminal offense.

The arrest was carried out yesterday by police officers of the Administration for Organized and Serious Crime and the Criminal Police Administration of the MUP of Republika Srpska, in cooperation with members of the East Sarajevo Police Administration and the Gendarmerie.

The arrested individuals will be handed over to the competent prosecutor of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Banja Luka within the legal timeframe.

These activities relate to the investigation into the criminal offense of aggravated murder committed on January 17 in Sremska Mitrovica.

The statement adds that, in cooperation with the Criminal Police Administration of the MUP of Serbia, police officers of the MUP of Republika Srpska actively participated in shedding light on the committed criminal offense, which resulted in the arrest of a number of individuals in the territory of Serbia and Republika Srpska, who are suspected of participating in the planning, organizing, and execution of the criminal offense.

Searches are underway at several locations, as stated, along with criminal processing of the arrested individuals, which is being carried out under the supervision of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Banja Luka.

The Minister of the Interior of Serbia stated on Thursday, January 23, that the police in Serbia arrested three suspects for the murder of Aleksandar Jurišić in Sremska Mitrovica on January 17.
