SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The first enrollment period for the first year of the first cycle, integrated studies, vocational studies, and specialist studies at the University of Sarajevo concluded on Friday, with 6,650 students applying out of the planned 6,500.
Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs Aida Hadžić emphasized that the greatest interest was shown in faculties from the medical and technical sciences groups.
Out of the total number of applications, 5,100 were individual names, considering that an application could be submitted for multiple study programs.
Rector Škrijelj stated that the turnout is better than last year, but the number is far below the approved quota of almost 11,000 places.
He pointed out that UNSA has rejuvenated its teaching staff by more than ten percent, by hiring young assistants and professional associates, and that this is also one of the ways to retain young people in BiH.
A working consultative meeting was held today at the University of Sarajevo, where, through four introductory presentations, UNSA employees holding management positions were informed about what the implementation of the new Law on Higher Education has brought in terms of university integration, in the first six months of this year, specifically since UNSA switched to the treasury system of operations.
Vice-Rector for Finance Tarik Zaimović stated that more than 60% of the finances for UNSA's operations are provided by the Sarajevo Canton, while the rest comes from the own revenues of organizational units.
