(Patria) - The 34th anniversary of the brutal murder of Kenan Demirović was marked today in Orlić, organized by the Association of Fighters, Organizers, and Initiators of Resistance of the Patriotic League of Vogošća Municipality.
By laying flowers and reciting Fatiha, family members and numerous delegations paid tribute to Kenan, who was murdered on March 2, 1992. The late Kenan is the first victim of the aggression in the area of Vogošća Municipality, and he and Sarajevo Cable Car employee Ramo Biber, who was killed on the same day, are the first victims of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Sarajevo area.
The delegation of Vogošća Municipality was led today by Mayor Migdad Hasanović, and along with him, flowers were laid at the memorial of the late Kenan Demirović by the President of the Vogošća Municipal Council Nihad Hadžić, his deputy Bego Gljiva, and Elma Kerla-Đogić, Assistant to the Mayor for Veteran-Disability and Social Protection.
Among the numerous citizens of Vogošća, members of veteran associations, and political parties, Avdo Hebib was present again this year. He served as the wartime Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and is the uncle of the late Kenan Demirović.
On behalf of the family, Hebib addressed the attendees, expressing his pleasure that Kenan's murder is not forgotten. He also thanked Vogošća Municipality for its efforts in preserving the culture of remembrance and recalled the contributions made by the parents of the late Kenan during the aggression against our country.
The President of the Patriotic League Association of Vogošća Municipality, Amir Bešlija, emphasized the importance of repeatedly speaking the truth about everything that happened in the Vogošća area during the aggression, so that lies do not prevail, and the culture of remembrance serves as a warning to everyone about what our neighbors are capable of.
Municipal Mayor Migdad Hasanović stated that the fight for Bosnia and Herzegovina continues even after the war, because the war continues after the war. The Mayor pointed out the great importance of nurturing the memory of our martyrs and fallen soldiers, as well as the truth about the defensive-liberation war.
- It is important that we pass on the truth to younger generations, that we are led by the best among us, and that we jointly build a society based on the values for which the bravest sons and daughters of the homeland laid down their lives and parts of their bodies - Hasanović concluded.
