SarajECO cleanup action begins in Ilidža, will last until May 24

(Patria) - The large SarajECO cleanup action, conducted by the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton, began today in the area of the Municipality of Ilidža and will last until May 24.

During the action, companies founded by Sarajevo Canton (KJKP Rad, KJKP Park, JKP Vodovod i kanalizacija, KJKP Pokop, and KJU for Protected Areas of KS), in coordination with JP Ilidža, the Ilidža Fire Department, and the Civil Protection of the Municipality of Ilidža, will strive to intensify the removal of illegal dumps, waste disposal, unclogging of drainage systems, arrangement of public green areas, and all other activities foreseen by the Operational Plan of the action.

Before the start of the action, the Mayor of the Municipality of Ilidža, Nermin Muzur, stated that the action had yielded very good results in previous years.

- This is a great action, which is being organized for the third time in our municipality, and it has been shown in previous years that we have good results. A large number of workers will be engaged in the action, including employees of our JP Ilidža, who have been maintaining and arranging areas in Ilidža for years - emphasized Mayor Muzur, adding:

- Illegal dumps will be removed, public areas will be cleaned manually and mechanically, green areas will be mowed and arranged, trees will be pruned, and areas of protected parks and promenades will be arranged. I hope that by joining forces, we will manage to fulfill the plan for the next five days - said Mayor Muzur.

The relevant minister, Bojan Bošnjak, also spoke about the goals of the action and emphasized why it is important for Ilidža.

- With the help of our utility companies and the Municipality of Ilidža, we are implementing this action to improve the level of communal hygiene in this municipality as well. The relevant ministry is trying to raise public awareness through these actions so that our city is cleaner, and given that it is also a tourist destination, we want to meet all the demands of our visitors - said Bojan Bošnjak, Minister of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton.

The cleanup action, which involves a large number of workers and more than 30 large machines, began in the local communities of Hrasnica I, Hrasnica II, and Sokolović Kolonija.

According to the agreed Operational Plan, the cleanup action will take place in all 16 local communities of the Ilidža municipality. Starting Tuesday, May 21, engaged workers will be deployed in the local communities of Butmir, Donji Kotorac, and part of Ilidža Centar, while on Wednesday, the action will continue in the center of Ilidža, and then in other local communities.
