Anniversary of the death of General Munib Bisić marked at Bare City Cemetery

(Patria) - Organized by the Association of Generals of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the anniversary of the death of the Deputy Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Munib Bisić, was marked today at the Bare City Cemetery.

The general, who built the foundations of our homeland with his sacrifice and patriotism, participated in the preparation of resistance and the defense of our country from the aggressor, and remained in responsible positions even after the war. Today, the Minister for Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović, also laid flowers at Bare, stating that true defenders of Bosnia and Herzegovina are not forgotten, nor does the memory fade with time.

“Today, as we mark the anniversary of the death of General Munib Bisić, we remember a man who, through his deeds, wove a part of himself into the foundations of our freedom. His courage and determination remain a lasting reminder that the values for which he fought must be preserved and passed on to future generations,” was the message from today's commemoration.

Munib Bisić was born on December 5, 1957, in Breza, where he completed primary and secondary school. During 1992 and 1993, he served as Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and then held the positions of Assistant Minister and Inspector.

After the war, he was appointed Head of the Military Liaison Mission, and then Head of the Department for Supervision and Control in the Joint Command of the Army of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was prematurely retired in October 2004.

Munib Bisić was a reserve officer of the Territorial Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in April 1994.

He was a member of the Main Staff of the Patriotic League of Bosnia and Herzegovina from its founding. He passed away on March 31, 2009, at the age of 52.
