SARAJevo, (Patria) - The artistic exhibit "Čepoćilim", made from plastic caps in a mosaic pattern resembling a Bosnian rug, was presented today at Ciglane near the inclined elevator, where it will be displayed as a permanent installation.
The Municipality of Centar supported this project, thereby expressing its commitment to environmental protection and preservation. The "Čepoćilim" project was created with the aim of reducing packaging waste and its reuse, promoting our country's cultural heritage through art in an innovative way. The conceptual, creative, and visual concept was devised by the prominent freelance artist, academic graphic designer Alma Hrasnica-Dervišević, president and founder of the association "Green Art", which advocates for quality of life through art and fosters a positive attitude towards the environment.
"25,000 caps are woven into this rug. We managed to turn waste into art, and the Bosnian rug is the result of that. We wanted to do something creative with waste, and this is its new utility value through projects like this, but also an idea for others. People need to correct their relationship with nature. Environmental protection requires constant education of citizens on how to contribute to waste reduction, keep their immediate surroundings clean, and build the awareness and conscience of all inhabitants of planet Earth regarding this. The Municipality of Centar, Canton Sarajevo, and the KS Tourist Board, by supporting this project, have shown their ecological awareness, and that support has encouraged us to continue with such activities," said Hrasnica-Dervišević.
