Event 'Prayer for the Homeland' held at Bobovac

(Patria) - Catholics of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and police officers from several cantons and levels of government participated for the 20th time in the pilgrimage 'Prayer for the Homeland' at Bobovac.

The Eucharistic celebration at Bobovac, located in the area of the Kraljeva Sutjeska parish, was led by the Archbishop Metropolitan of Vrhbosna and Apostolic Administrator of the Military Ordinariate in BiH, Monsignor Tomo Vukšić, with the concelebration of the Vicar General of the Military Ordinariate in the Republic of Croatia, Don Marko Mede, and the Military Vicar of the Slovenian Army, Father Matej Jakopič.

The Holy Mass at the former seat of medieval Bosnian rulers, on the day of the death of Bosnian Queen Katarina Kosača-Kotromanić, was attended by representatives of the Armed Forces of BiH, authorities, and faithful from nearby and distant parishes.

"With equal fervor, we pray for all people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of how they are called and in what way they pray to and worship God. We pray for their happiness, mutual harmony, and every progress, for dialogue as the only way to resolve all issues, for lasting and just peace. We pray for prudence and wisdom," said Monsignor Vukšić in his homily.

The prayer pilgrimage to Bobovac was initiated by Cardinal Vinko Puljić in memory of the day of the death of Bosnian Queen Katarina Kosača, October 25, 1478, with the aim of uniting in prayer for personal needs, for one's own people and homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for all people and nations living in it.
