Pope Francis's visit to Sarajevo, announced for June 6, is a major event for the Catholic Church, as well as for all people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and all institutions are behaving accordingly, writes the Patria News Agency.
Sarajevo International Airport, as one of the subcommittees for welcoming Pope Francis, is working hard on preparations, with a special emphasis on security.
As Ivica Veličan, Director of Sarajevo Airport, told Patria, various tasks are being carried out every day to ensure everything is ready for the reception and this important visit.
- We have received two protocols, our state protocol and the Vatican's, and we are working in accordance with them. Special emphasis has been placed on security, and along with all that, everything needs to be technically prepared - says Veličan.
The Vatican delegation visited Sarajevo International Airport twice, especially because Pope Francis will first arrive at the Airport, so the first impression and feeling are important.
- There is a lot of work, but it is very important that everything is ready. This is a big visit for believers, but also for all citizens of BiH - added Veličan.
