N1: Sidran meets with French President Macron

PARIS, (Patria) - Bosnian writer and academic Abdulah Sidran, along with about thirty other world intellectuals, met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.

The meeting of world intellectuals with the French President was an initiative of one of the most influential intellectuals of our time, French philosopher, writer, and journalist Bernard-Henri Levy.

Sidran told N1 that they discussed solutions to the problem of Europe's shift to the right during the lunch.

"It was a lunch with the President of France, Mr. Macron, and during the two-and-a-half-hour lunch, almost all participants had the opportunity to speak about their vision of the causes of the shift of European intellect, people, countries, governments... to the right. We discussed ways and possibilities for the left-wing Europe, which exists, to organize itself, by what means and how to counter it. The upcoming European Parliament elections are particularly important in this regard. Within such defined boundaries, everyone spoke about the situation in their homeland and how they see the situation," said Sidran.

He said that he pointed out Europe's failures regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s.

"What I briefly said could be summarized as the roots of what is now seen as a drastic rightward shift of the entire Europe were sown in '92 when Europe, using the example of Bosnia and Herzegovina, departed from its elementary rules and principles. The inequality shown then in double, multiple standards towards the territory and peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina is now coming to fruition," said Sidran.

 

 

Among those present at the lunch with Sidran were Claudio Magris (Italy), Fernando Savater (Spain), Jens Christian Grondahl (Denmark), Agnes Heller (Hungary), Rob Riemen (Netherlands), Simon Schama (England), Peter Schneider (Germany), David Grossman (Israel), Anne Applebaum (USA), Adam Zagajewski (Poland), and others.
