MVP confirms: Lagumdžija's friend Užičanin no longer assistant minister

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH confirmed in its response to the inquiry of the Patria news agency that Selma Užičanin, at her personal request, has been internally reassigned within the MFA from the Sector for General Affairs to the Sector for Multilateral Relations. 

-Therefore, Selma Užičanin has not been dismissed from the position of Assistant Minister for General Affairs, especially since she performed this job exceptionally successfully in the previous period. The reassignment to a diplomatic position in the Sector for Multilateral Relations instead of the Sector for General Affairs is exclusively motivated by further work on diplomatic matters.

Anything beyond this is inappropriate and unfounded speculation, according to the response signed by Nebojša Regoje, Head of the Public Relations Office. 

Užičanin, who according to media reports is a close friend of the head of BiH diplomacy Zlatko Lagumdžija and his wife Amina, advanced from advisor in the cabinet to assistant minister during his mandate.

At Lagumdžija's insistence, she resigned from the position of Head of the Sector for General Affairs, as she could, according to unconfirmed information, be held responsible for the theft of 50,000 KM of budget funds.

It was precisely she who, in February of this year, sent MFA official Ivica Merlo to the bank to withdraw 50,000 KM in cash. He was intercepted in a small park on Maršala Tita Street at noon and robbed.

The police have not yet found the robber, nor have they submitted a report to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo on the progress of the investigation so far. 

Allegedly, Užičanin is also the subject of an investigation by SIPA, due to certain appointment decisions she made that were not in accordance with the law, about which a report has already been forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.
