Muzaferija happy about success: Unforgettable weekend that I will remember for a long time

(Patria) - The PR team of the best BiH skier Elvedina Muzaferija announced after today's new success.

Out of a total of 49 competitors who participated in the World Cup Super-G discipline, Muzaferija started 46th and despite the unfavorable number, she finished the race with a time of 1:18.01 with a phenomenal run. It was enough for 16th place and another 15 cup points.

The twenty-four-year-old from Visoko, a member of the Ski Club ZE-2010, achieved her second best result in the Super-G discipline today on an extremely difficult track, after she had previously set that record twenty days ago, when she finished 14th in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

In the last five World Cup races, Muzaferija has consistently made history in BiH skiing, and she has also continuously improved in the downhill discipline, from 25th place, through 18th place on Friday, to a phenomenal fourth place and 50 points, with which she delighted everyone yesterday in Crans Montana.

“I have an unforgettable weekend behind me, for me and for BiH skiing. We started on Friday with 18th place in the downhill, which was the best downhill result of my career. That gave me the opportunity for a better starting number on Saturday (28), which I used to the fullest and skied to an incredible fourth place. Only 11 hundredths behind the podium, behind Lara Gut-Behrami. I think I will remember this weekend for a long time. I also had the opportunity to be on the podium for the first time in the World Cup, and it was great,” said Muzaferija after three successful appearances this weekend in Switzerland.

With her excellent form, Elvedina has collected a total of 102 points in the World Cup, of which 33 are in the Super-G discipline and 69 points in the downhill. In the overall discipline standings, she currently holds 29th and 23rd place, and qualification for the finals is becoming increasingly likely.

“Today we had the last race, Super-G, and unfortunately, I started with a very high starting number, 46. The track had softened a bit, but now I feel much more confident, I ski cleanly, and I knew it could be a good result. I finished sixteenth, which is my second-best result in this discipline. With that result, I should be among the top thirty on the starting list for next weekend's races in Passo San Pellegrino, Italy. I will try to qualify for the World Cup finals in the Super-G discipline as well,” Muzaferija emphasized.

We will see the best Bosnian-Herzegovinian alpine skier, among the world's fastest skiers, again on February 24th and 25th, in the Italian ski resort of Val di Fassa. Both Super-G races will be held at 11 AM with Eurosport TV coverage and a more favorable starting number for our skier.

Finally, let's add that Stephanie Venier won today's race in Crans Montana, completing the course 1:16.52, one second and 49 hundredths faster than our Elvedina Muzaferija. Federica Brignone took second place, and yesterday's winner Marta Bassino, as the third-placed competitor, was once again on the podium.
