Muzaferija chases new chance for World Cup Super-G final

(Patria) - BiH's best skier Elvedina Muzaferija has a new chance today to achieve success in the Super-G race held in Kvitfjell, Norway, and qualify for the World Cup final.

The most successful Bosnian-Herzegovinian alpine skier Elvedina Muzaferija is in the third seeding group and will start with bib number 25 out of 48 competitors.

Otherwise, today's Super-G, as a replacement for one of the two canceled races in Val di Fassa last weekend, was announced instead of the downhill race that was on the calendar, but the basic conditions for its holding were not met.

Namely, the last downhill race before the Women's World Cup finals was canceled on Friday after bad weather prevented the official training, which is a prerequisite for holding competitions in this discipline.

With this cancellation, the best Bosnian-Herzegovinian alpine skier Elvedina Muzaferija, who collected 69 points in downhill in previous races and positioned herself in 23rd place in the overall discipline standings, has secured her ticket to the Audi FIS Ski World Cup finals, which will be held in Saalbach, Austria, from March 22 to 24.

Shortly after, the International Ski Federation decided to hold a double Super-G in Kvitfjell on Saturday and Sunday, which is an additional chance for our best competitor, who is currently ranked 29th in this discipline with 33 World Cup points.

"Of course, I am not happy that the race was canceled, but in a way, I am, because FIS decided that tomorrow's downhill race will be replaced by a Super-G race that was canceled last weekend in Italy, and that means I will have much better chances to qualify for the World Cup final in the Super-G discipline as well. I hope we will also adjust a bit better and that I will manage to achieve that goal. And if not, I am very happy with this season," said Muzaferija.

In the races so far, Muzaferija has collected a total of 102 World Cup points, and you can follow both Super-G races on Saturday and Sunday, March 2 and 3, on the Eurosport channels starting at 11 AM.
