Muslims Celebrate Laylat al-Badr Tonight

(Patria) - Muslims are celebrating Laylat al-Badr tonight, the 17th night of Ramadan, the Night of the Battle of Badr, an event that changed the course of world history.

Namely, on the 17th of Ramadan, in 624 AD, at the hill of Badr, near the city of Medina, the first battle in the history of Islam took place.

At that time, the Muslim enemies had about 900 fighters, and there were about 300 Muslims. They fought at Badr, Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions confirmed and proved the strength, courage, determination, and patience that Islam provides. Therefore, this event is also known as Badr al-kubra (The Great Badr).

Although numerically weaker, the Muslims, led by Muhammad (peace be upon him), militarily defeated the enemies. 14 Muslims were killed, and 70 of the enemy were killed, the rest were captured.

In accordance with tradition, this night will be marked with appropriate programs in local communities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
