Muratović: We say what many are afraid to say

A little over three years ago, a team of several already successful young actors, directors, and enthusiasts founded Magacin Kabare, a non-profit professional organization. One of the members of Magacin Kabare, actress Mona Muratović, speaks to the Bosnian news agency Patria about the very beginnings.

- There is a lot of work behind it, a lot of overtime. In that sense, we all invested a lot in it. Everyone worked before Magacin Kabare, and we all had 8 to 10 years of career, we brought everything we learned to MK. The success of MK showed how much such a cultural project was needed in our society – states Muratović.

Muratović states that there are many topics, or materials, in our society for what they do, which are socially engaged plays.

- We say what many are afraid to say, we talk about all those parameters in our society that should not be. We give our stance through our plays – says this actress.

Given the themes of the plays produced by Magacin Kabare, Mona also briefly commented on the current protests in several BiH cities.

- I think it's good that we've started, we need to fight against injustice. And if everyone dedicated themselves to what they are good at, we would have a very successful country – says Muratović.

Although it is difficult for actors from BiH, as well as the region, to achieve success outside the borders of our country, Mona says that it is possible to succeed.

- The proof is Zana Marjanović (lead role in Angelina Jolie's film "In the Land of Blood and Honey", editor's note), Moamer Kasumović is currently filming in Italy, I received excellent reviews in the United Kingdom and Ireland last summer and autumn. It is difficult to get a chance, but when you go beyond the borders of BiH, it is good. There are many young, talented people who never get a real chance – concludes Muratović.
