(Patria) - In Mostar today, the MUP HNK held a press conference regarding the murder of Aldina Jahić. It was pointed out that a series of misinformation was presented to the public, especially the claim that the suspect Anis Kalajdžić had a permit to carry a weapon. The MUP emphasized that he never had a permit nor did he submit a request, and that the weapon used in the murder was not his.
Minister Mario Marić stated that the victim called the police shortly before the murder and reported that her ex-boyfriend was chasing her with a pistol, but upon arrival, the police found the incident already concluded. There were no earlier official reports from the victim, although it will be checked whether she had received threats.
It was confirmed that an indictment had previously been filed against Kalajdžić for endangering the safety of another woman. The MUP expressed condolences to the family and announced that a delicate court proceeding would follow.
This is the first murder of a woman after the FBiH adopted amendments to the Criminal Code, which treats femicide as a particularly serious murder.
