Mulaomerović new head coach of Bosnia's basketball team, Muminović to lead U-20 selection

The Board of Directors of the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina today appointed Damir Mulaomerović as the head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina men's national basketball team, confirmed for the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The Board of Directors of the Basketball Federation met in Kakanj where the new head coach of our best basketball players was appointed.

Mulaomerović is a former Croatian national team player and coach of Sloboda. Incidentally, the Board of Directors narrowed the choice to two candidates, and besides Mulaomerović, Dragan Bajić was also in the running.

Sejo Bukva, a member of the Board of Directors and vice president of the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that the head coach of the U-20 national team, Senad Muminović, was also selected.

Mulaomerović was elected with seven votes, while one member abstained.

Bukva also confirmed that 2016 brought numerous changes for the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that they have serious plans to strengthen all national teams within the Federation.

- No national team will be dropped. We also have a new secretary general, Dubravko Barbarić, who is a good manager capable of securing financial resources and sponsors - says Bukva.

Incidentally, the qualifications for the 2017 European Championship begin at the end of August, and Bosnia and Herzegovina's first match is against Russia. According to Bukva, the priority is qualification for the European Championship.

It is encouraging that Jusuf Nurkić and Mirza Teletović, who had to leave the national team due to health problems, have announced their return to the national team.

Bukva said that there are also young players who need to be given a chance, which both candidates for head coach announced.

- There are certainly Džanan Musa, Njegoš Sikiraš, Edin Atić. We also have an announcement that Emir Sulejmanović could play for Bosnia and Herzegovina - says Bukva, who states that there is a lot of work ahead of the Federation, but that everyone is ready to give their maximum contribution.
