Muhamed Ajanović released to defend himself from freedom

(Patria) - The Municipal Court in Sarajevo accepted the proposal of the KS Prosecutor's Office and lifted the detention of Muhamed Ajanović, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry in Sarajevo.

As confirmed by the Court, Ajanović was released to defend himself from freedom, with proposed prohibition measures. He was in detention at KPZ Igman for three months, and was arrested in December last year on the order of the KS Prosecutor's Office.

The Court imposed a ban on performing the function of dean, as well as a ban on entering the Faculty of Dentistry, the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, and the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS.

Furthermore, he was issued a travel ban and a ban on contacting witnesses and other suspects in the case.

The lifting of detention occurred after the indictment was filed in the "Envelope" case, which, in addition to Ajanović, includes 13 other individuals. Among them are former minister in the KS Government, now assembly representative, Adna Mesihović, as well as the current Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Enda Pavić Pečenković.

The indictment also includes Dženita Viteškić, Ibrahim Obhođaš, Dalila Hakalović, Murat Ramadanović, Mersih Šabaredžović Klačar, Jasminka Sijerčić, Maida Čohodar Husić, Lidija Zvačko Pehar, Dejan Milošević, Kasim Bajrović, and Emina Kiseljaković.

The Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton stated that the accused are charged with several criminal offenses, including abuse of position or authority, accepting a reward or other form of benefit for influence peddling, and fraud in service.

"The filing of the indictment was preceded by an extensive and complex investigation by the KS Prosecutor's Office, carried out in cooperation with investigators from the Police Administration of the MUP of KS and the Office for Combating Corruption of KS, in accordance with the signed Memorandum on the Prosecution of Corrupt Criminal Offenses," the KS Prosecutor's Office announced at the time.
