(Patria) - On the occasion of the New 1447 Hijri year, the Sarajevo Mufti's Office, relying on rich Islamic tradition and community care values, symbolically marked this significant date by gifting the first-born baby at the Jezero maternity hospital in Sarajevo.
On Thursday, 1st Muharram 1447 Hijri, or June 26, 2025, the coordinator of the Department for Marriage and Family of the Sarajevo Mufti's Office, Sumeja Fidani, visited the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics of the University Clinical Center of Sarajevo (KCUS).
On this occasion, gifts were presented to the mother and newborn, Ajla Hodžić Borić and baby Iman, who brought joy in the first moments of the new Hijri year with her arrival into this world, as an expression of care, love, and support.
– With this noble gesture, the Sarajevo Mufti's Office wishes to affirm fundamental family values, the importance of childbirth and preserving life, but also to remind of the significance of nurturing the tradition of celebrating the New Hijri Year in the sign of hope, care, and new beginnings – stated the press release from the Sarajevo Mufti's Office.
On behalf of the Sarajevo Mufti, Prof. Dr. Nedžad Grabus, coordinator Fidani conveyed sincere congratulations to the mother and prayers for the health, happiness, and long life of the newborn and her family.
– The Sarajevo Mufti's Office continues its practice this year by consistently linking religious dates with socially responsible actions, emphasizing universal values of solidarity, love, and respect for every new life – the press release added.
