(Patria) - The Medžlis of the Islamic Community (MIZ) Brčko today held an emergency session following the fire that destroyed the Hadži Pašina Mosque in this city early this morning, and the session was chaired by the Mufti of Tuzla, Vahid-ef. Fazlović.
Mufti Fazlović conveyed words of support from Reis-ul-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović and the readiness of the Islamic Community to jointly and quickly rebuild the Hadži Pašina Mosque to the members of the Executive Board, imams, and all Muslims in Brčko.
It was emphasized at the session that the fire at the Hadži Pašina Mosque and its consequences deeply shook the Muslims and all noble people of this region. Besides its functional aspect, the Hadži Pašina Mosque had significant architectural value. A firm stance was expressed that the reconstruction of this mosque should begin as soon as possible.
In a statement to the media, after visiting the Hadži Pašina Mosque, Mufti Fazlović stressed how attached the Muslims of Brčko, especially those from nearby neighborhoods, are to this mosque.
„Today we are with them, with the Medžlis of the Islamic Community Brčko, the head imam, and our imams. We want to be with all of them so they can more easily bear the hardship caused by the consequences of the fire at this mosque of ours. We will jointly and strongly approach the reconstruction of the Hadži Pašina Mosque, God willing. I want to thank everyone who participated in extinguishing the fire.
We expect the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and determine the causes that led to the fire. It goes without saying how important this is to all of us,“ said Mufti Fazlović.
The head imam of MIZ Brčko, Mustafa-ef. Gobeljić, expressed hope that this beautiful mosque will be rebuilt as soon as possible.
„I want to thank the institutions of local government, primarily the Fire Department of Brčko District and the Police of Brčko District, who were immediately on the scene and made maximum efforts to save the building at least to the level it is now. We are encouraged by numerous calls expressing readiness for solidarity and help. First of all, from our representatives at higher levels of the Islamic Community, Reis-ul-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović and the Mufti of Tuzla, Vahid-ef. Fazlović, and then calls of support and solidarity followed from various addresses, so with God's help, we will very quickly rebuild our Hadži Pašina Mosque,“ said head imam Mustafa-ef. Gobeljić.
The Hadži Pašina Mosque was built in the first half of the 19th century with funds from Hadži Paša Mujkanović, an exile from Šabac. The mosque was identical to the Dizdarija Mosque, built by his brother Hadži Dizdar Mujkanović in the center of Brčko. During the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was mined and demolished, and was rebuilt in 2011.
