Muftija Fazlović: May the Eid holidays remind us of our constant duty towards the weak and helpless

(Patria) - Tuzla Mufti Vahid ef. Fazlović sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

"The value of these days of Dhul-Hijjah that have brought us closer to Eid al-Adha is comparable to the value of the pre-Eid period of Ramadan. Special distinctions in both of these periods are associated with the blessed Night of Power and the great Day of Arafat. Inexpressible knowledge and spirituality in this time pour into human hearts and minds from the abundance of Allah's mercy and blessings. In this unique, noble relationship between the Lord of the Worlds and people lies our faith, which is confirmed through acts of worship and charity, and His pleasure, forgiveness of sins, and reward.

And is it not on the Day of Arafat, by the will of the Most Merciful, that the inhabitants of the Earth rise to the highest levels of His forgiveness and their own spiritual purity, as this joyful news was conveyed to us by the last prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him? And immediately after, all the joy and satisfaction of Eid follow. At the same time, servants respond to the honorable call of the Exalted, making many efforts, to visit His Ancient House with the deepest longing. Performing the pilgrimage of Hajj is a clear proof of their obedience and gratitude to the Noble Creator of the worlds.

People do not demonstrate this admirable obedience to God Almighty individually. They do so in their human and spiritual brotherhood and unity. In the Holy Qur'an, almost every message to those performing Hajj is expressed in the plural. It is addressed to that vast multitude of people who, both formally and essentially, manifest their equality and brotherhood. This should, in all times and in every place, be the universal aspiration of every individual and all nations.
In addition to prayer, zakat, fasting, and Hajj, the main Islamic acts of worship, our performance of the sacrifice ritual of Qurbani also strongly demonstrates devotion and piety before the Face of the Exalted God, as well as our nobility and doing good to people. The meaning of the Qurbani worship is to draw closer to Allah, glory be to Him, and to contribute to greater closeness and trust among people.

All Islamic acts of worship are for the sake of piety (taqwa), strengthening awareness of the common Creator and Benefactor, but also for the sake of the nobility that people will share among themselves and draw closer to one another. Our Wise Lord demands from us both piety and nobility. He teaches us in His Book that the most noble among you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous. (Al-Hujurat, 13.)
We pray to Allah, glory be to Him, that on the Day of Arafat He accepts the supplications of our pilgrims and the supplications of all of us. We pray to the Exalted that He accepts our sacrifices, that they may be a pledge of security and progress for our families.

May the Eid holidays remind us of our constant duty towards the weak and helpless. Caring for their condition is a special test of our faith and conscience.

We pray to Almighty God that the sanctity of Eid al-Adha strengthens us in our care and responsibility towards the community and homeland.
