Mufti Dedović issues public call to verify legality of all public, religious and cultural buildings in Mostar

(Patria) - Mostar mufti Dr. Salem-ef. Dedović today issued a Public Call for verification of legality of all public, religious and cultural buildings, monuments and religious symbols on public surfaces in Mostar.

We publish the public call of Mufti Dedović in its entirety:

"Bearing in mind that for decades throughout the city of Mostar, including in the Central Zone, high religious symbols and other buildings have been erected illegally, without the necessary permits, planning documentation, and without an adequate response from the competent institutions, and after in recent days, through unidentified and unreliable media platforms, 'some documents' have 'leaked' into the public from the competent services of the City of Mostar, accusing the Mostar mufti of illegally erecting buildings (mosques) or parts of Muslim buildings (minarets), I hereby issue

A Public Call

To the Mayor of the City of Mostar, the City Department for Economy, Utilities and Inspection Affairs, the City Council of Mostar, the Assembly of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, the Ministry of Construction and Spatial Planning in the Government of the Herzegovina Canton, the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federal Ministry of Spatial Planning, the President and Vice-Presidents of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Institution of the Ombudsman for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to proceed with the immediate sealing of all built public, religious, cultural facilities and monuments, as well as those under construction, and raised religious symbols on public surfaces that do not possess complete documentation.

I propose that an expert group be formed at the City, Canton, federal and state levels, which will, under the supervision of the OHR, urgently review each case that is being problematized in public, starting with the Croatian National Theatre. I expect that further devastation of the urban space of Mostar will finally be stopped.
