Mufti Adilović: There are numerous lessons and messages from the Battle of Badr

(Patria) - The blessed night of Laylatul-Badr begins this evening with the evening prayer, and in mosques across Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora, it will be marked with appropriate programs, while tomorrow, March 27, is the Day of Victory at Badr.

Dr. Ahmed-ef. Adilović, Travnik Mufti, spoke to MINA Agency about Badr and its messages.

"On the seventeenth day of Ramadan, in the second year of the Hijra, the famous Battle of Badr took place. In terms of the number of participants, it was a small battle, but in terms of significance, it was one of the most important battles in the history of Islam. On the side of Truth, led by Muhammad, peace be upon him, there were just over 300 companions, and on the side of misguidance, there were about 1,000 warriors.

Besides that, the companions were poorly armed, while the polytheists were far better armed and were convinced they would win," the mufti stated.

He added that, however, "the companions had strong faith, they had a clear goal they wanted to achieve, they were completely dedicated to their mission, they fully applied the instructions of their leader, i.e., the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, they were ready for maximum sacrifice for

the Truth, and they did not doubt the help of the Lord of the worlds at all".

"That is what decided the battle, so the companions, who by human standards had no chance, actually achieved a fantastic victory, from which Muslims around the world, even after more than 1,400 years, draw lessons and messages," explained Mufti Adilović.

He emphasized that there are numerous lessons and messages from the Battle of Badr, of which he lists only a few on this occasion.

"For every success in life, effort and dedication are needed. The companions did not sit in their homes and expect the problem to be solved, but they did everything in their power to win. For every success in life, one should rely on Allah, the Exalted, and ask Him for help, and follow the Sunnah of Muhammad, peace be upon him. Regarding the victory in the Battle of Badr, Allah, the Exalted, says, among other things: 'Verily, Allah has already supported you at Badr when you were weak. So fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful!' (Al Imran, 123)," the mufti pointed out.

He also emphasized that one of the lessons and messages is that numerical superiority and equipment are not decisive for victory in battle, "but rather firm faith in the Almighty Lord of the worlds, maximum effort, and reliance on Allah, the Exalted".

"The same applies to all other life successes. In that sense, Allah, the Exalted, says: 'How often has a small company overcome a large company by permission of Allah!' (Al-Baqarah, 249). For victory and success in life, it is of great importance that we are willing to sacrifice part of our time, effort, property, and even our lives in certain situations. The example of the companions in the Battle of Badr testifies to this," he stated.

He further emphasized that consulting with associates is important in achieving victory and life goals.

"We see this from the Prophet's, peace be upon him, consultation with his companions about the position where they would confront the enemy. Kind and humane treatment in all situations, including in the case of prisoners. The humane act of the Prophet, peace be upon him, is well known, by which he offered ransom for the prisoners, including by teaching those companions who did not know how to read and write until then. Obedience to the Ruler of the worlds and adherence to Islamic regulations are conditions for all life successes and victories. Therefore, among other things, we should strive to the maximum to align our lives with Islamic regulations, i.e., the will of the Ruler of the worlds. Conversely, i.e., disobedience to Allah, the Exalted, leads to failure and defeat, which happened a year later, i.e., in the Battle of Uhud. Islam strives for peace, but if human lives are threatened, then it is an obligation to fight against the enemy and protect innocent people," said the Travnik Mufti, Dr. Ahmed-ef. Adilović, in an interview with MINA Agency.
