(Patria) - Karađoz-beg Madrasa has also implemented the "Qurban for the Madrasa" campaign this year. One part of this campaign was realized in the pre-qurban days, when the livestock was procured, examined, and prepared for sacrifice on the first morning of Eid al-Adha. This is a traditional campaign by which Karađoz-beg Madrasa provides enough meat products each year for the needs of students residing in the dormitory during the school year.

It does so thanks to the friends of the Madrasa, the qurban payers, who support such a campaign every year and recognize its importance. The importance of this campaign, as testified by M.Sc. Suad Mujakić, Director of the Madrasa, is also reflected in the procurement of qurbans from Bosniak returnees throughout Herzegovina, i.e., the Mufti's Office of Mostar, writes Preporod.info.

This year's "Qurban for the Madrasa" campaign continues to be successfully implemented during the days of Eid al-Adha. The first act of continuing the campaign during the Eid al-Adha days is certainly the sacrifice of qurbans for the soul of Karađoz-beg, the greatest waqif of Herzegovina and the founder of Karađoz-beg Madrasa.

This year, on the first morning of Eid, May 27, 2026, two qurbans were sacrificed in the courtyard of the Madrasa. One for the soul of Karađoz-beg, and the other for the soul of Ahmed-aga Lakišić, a prominent waqif of Mostar.

– This morning, we sacrificed two qurbans. We traditionally sacrifice one for the soul of the founder of our school, Karađoz-beg, and since last year, we have also been sacrificing a qurban for the soul of Ahmed-aga Lakišić, a prominent waqif of the city on the Neretva. This is a traditional act that we perform here in the courtyard of the Madrasa after the Eid prayer, where we come to recite a prayer and begin the qurban activities with takbirs – said Director Mujakić.

The sacrifice of qurbans was attended by: Dr. Salem-efendija Dedović, Mufti of Mostar, M.Sc. Suad Mujakić, Director of the Madrasa, M.Sc. Hafiz Aid Tulek, Assistant Director for Teaching, and M.Sc. Dino-efendija Maksumić, Chief Imam of the Majlis of the Islamic Community Mostar.

This act aimed to preserve the memory of the great figures of the Bosniak past, so that this trust would be passed on to future generations, in the hope that the greatest waqifs of Mostar and Herzegovina, as well as the current waqifs of Karađoz-beg Madrasa and our regions, are remembered.

A large number of community members from the area of the Mufti's Office of Mostar, as well as from the Bosniak diaspora, responded to the "Qurban for the Madrasa" campaign, who, by paying for qurbans at Karađoz-beg Madrasa, wished to help with the nutrition of students of the oldest educational institution in Herzegovina.

As in previous years, a portion of the qurban meat will be donated to certain social organizations, such as hospitals, children's homes, and homes for the elderly and infirm, which operate in our city and Herzegovina, and which the Madrasa supports in its work.
