The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton filed an indictment on Friday against V. P. (born 1966) in Sokolac, on suspicion of committing war crimes in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Grbavica from 1992 to 1994, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
V.P. is charged with physically abusing and inhumanely treating members of a work squad, civilians of non-Serb ethnicity, in the period from 1992 to 1994 in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Grbavica, as a member of the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps of the Army of Republika Srpska, violating the rules of international humanitarian law.
The indictment, along with the collected evidence, has been submitted to the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo for further proceedings, i.e., confirmation.
During the last Serbian aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, some of the most horrific crimes against non-Serb residents were committed in Grbavica, led by the Republika Srpska Army member and criminal Veselin Vlahović Batko, who was sentenced to 42 years in prison by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is serving his sentence in the prison in Foča, reports NAP.
