Can cafes and restaurants broadcast the World Cup matches from Brazil?

BHT, the public broadcaster that will air all matches of the FIFA World Cup from Brazil, announced that public viewing of the World Cup matches will only be possible with a FIFA license. However, caterers across Bosnia and Herzegovina are confused and, as they confirmed to the Patria news agency, will seek further clarification.

Illegal public display is considered one for which an entrance fee is charged or one sponsored by companies that are not official FIFA sponsors, and the decision that it should not generate profit for the organizer in any way could also thwart caterers' plans.

Sulejman Kapić, president of the Association of Caterers of Sarajevo Canton, stated that they have already sent a letter to BHT seeking clarification. He told NAP that they are truly confused and that at this moment he cannot say whether this ban also applies to cafes and restaurants.

- It's a bit unclear to us, but we will seek clarification. I think FIFA said there are no public gatherings of over 5,000 people, but we don't have restaurants that could accommodate such a number of guests – says Kapić.

Although the matches will be played quite late, caterers believe that people will be willing to watch the matches of the BiH national team at midnight.

- It's our first time at a major competition, and I don't think people will be lazy to watch the matches at that time. I especially think so because we are a nation that loves football, and we lived for this moment. We will also ask the City for extended working hours, in order to remove all legal obstacles to work. We will see in the end what comes of it – Kapić added.
