Modrić: Mines in FBiH given to local cowboys to rule

(Patria) - Kadrija Modrić, former director of RMU Banovići and current employee, said in the show 'Istraga sedmice' on Hayat TV that all mines are majority-owned by the FBiH Government.

He said that all governments so far have been the main culprit for the situation in the mines.

- The mines have been handed over to local cowboys to rule on a private basis, as if it were their inheritance. We have been brought to a state without control mechanisms. Workers were hired in the mine using quantitative methods. The only profession not yet employed here is a piano teacher; all professions are employed. This situation has only been grafted on, and everything has come to a head. There is no more backing down. In Banovići, we are tearing out coal, not exploiting it. In a year or two, we will not be able to overcome the inclines in internal transport, and we will become completely unprofitable – said Modrić.

An example was also cited that in Romania, the largest mine produces 27 million tons of lignite and is served by 136 administrative workers and about 8,000 miners, while here all mines together produce about 4 million tons.

Vahid Hećo (SBiH), former federal minister of energy, mining and industry, pointed out that in 2010, all mines produced more than 7 million tons of coal.

- The management of the mines is also incompetent; I would not blame only the FBiH Government. As for employment, too many workers are employed in the mines. It is not those who go down into the pit that are too many, but those who walk around – said Hećo.
