In a tragic turn of events, near the Visoko railway station, a train ran over both legs of Muhamed Čelić from Breza, resulting in traumatic above-knee amputation. After being treated at the clinics for anaesthesia and resuscitation, and orthopaedics and traumatology, Čelić was discharged for home care, reports the Patria news agency.
His parents, Adem and Zejfa, are unemployed and cannot afford the costs of their son's expensive treatment. The price of one injection he needs daily is 12 KM. They live as tenants in a dilapidated house, without basic living conditions, and have no sanitary facilities.
Today, 34 days after the life-altering tragedy, Muhamed is feeling well. It could have been much worse, he says. Support and attention would ease the shock for Muhamed's family and give him hope that, with the help of good people, he will be able to organise his future life. This brave young man would benefit from more comfortable and adequate orthopaedic wheelchair and aids.
Anyone wishing to help Muhamed can find the Čelić family at Alije Izetbegovića 40 in Breza. Payments can also be made to the UniCredit Bank account number: 3385802538904263.
