SREBRENICA, (Patria) - Young participants of the political academy "Progressive politics in Western Balkan (ProgWeb)", from Western Balkan countries, visited the Potočari Memorial Center in Srebrenica on Saturday.
This visit was organized as part of the ongoing efforts of the "Boris Divković" Foundation to include topics of dealing with the past, culture of remembrance, and overcoming ethnic distances and prejudices in the political program, it was announced.
The 22 academy participants watched a documentary film about Srebrenica during the war and the crime committed by the forces of the Republika Srpska Army in this area in July 1995, and some of them expressed the opinion that they witnessed a loss of humanity.
One of the academy participants from Serbia said he is ashamed of what people of his nationality are capable of doing, adding that because of some people and state propaganda, there is a dark shadow on his people.
The political academy "Progressive politics in Western Balkan (ProgWeb)" for young social democrats and liberals from the Western Balkan region was organized by the "Boris Divković" Foundation from Sarajevo in cooperation with the Swedish foundations Olof Palme International Center (OPC) and the Centre Party International Foundation.
The goal of the academy is to connect young progressive forces into a broader front for the fight for a European, peaceful, developed, and socially responsible Western Balkans, the statement said.
