Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 team defeated away in Romania

OVIDIU, (Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 national team was defeated in Ovidiu by the Romanian selection 2-0, in the 9th round of Group 8 of the European Championship qualifiers.

After an initial exchange of forces and a start in which there were no real chances, Romania took the lead in the 16th minute. Following a cross from the right side, Petre took advantage of a careless reaction in our defense to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

Only from that moment did the Young Dragons wake up and show that they possess quality. Gojak threatened from a free kick in the 23rd minute, but Radu was on the spot, and the same player had an excellent chance just 60 seconds later after a mistake by the home goalkeeper and defense, but his lobbed shot from an angle on the right side only hit the top of the net.

Until the end of the first half, our national team had territorial dominance, but the break came with the score at 1-0.

Cicaldau threatened at the start of the second half in the 48th minute, but Trkulja was on the spot and sent the ball into a corner. The Young Dragons responded in the 56th minute when, after a corner by Gojak, Radeljić headed the ball but was not accurate. The Romanians could have scored a second goal in the 63rd minute, but a long-range shot by Man was stopped by Trkulja.

However, Romania crowned their better play in the second half with a second goal in the 69th minute. Hagi scored directly from a corner, beating Trkulja for a convincing 2-0. Unfortunately, the players selected by Vinko Marinović did not have the strength to do much more until the end and suffered a defeat that likely left them without a chance to reach first place and qualify for the European Championship, given that Romania still plays against Wales and Liechtenstein.

The Young Dragons will still have the opportunity to secure second place with a possible victory against Portugal on October 16, and perhaps find themselves among the four best second-placed teams that will play in the European Championship playoffs. (Scsport.ba)
