(Patria) - The Municipal Court in Sarajevo ordered a one-month detention for Irfan Karić, arrested after an incident in which he tried to drive through a police blockade during recent protests.
During a search of his vehicle and subsequently his home, a larger quantity of various types of drugs was found.
Karić's detention was ordered due to the risk that he might repeat the criminal offense if released.
Karić is suspected of the criminal offenses of obstructing an official in performing official duties, unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs, and illegal possession of weapons or explosive materials, the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office earlier announced.
The Cantonal Ministry of Interior stated that Karić is a "repeat offender of traffic violations" and was caught driving a vehicle while under a protective measure banning him from driving a motor vehicle.
Police officers from the Traffic Unit temporarily confiscated the motor vehicle in question. Karić was then tested for the presence of narcotic drugs, and it was determined that he tested positive for psychoactive substances.
