Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia served Easter liturgy at Sarajevo Cathedral

(Patria) - Orthodox believers celebrate Easter today.

The Holy Hierarchical Liturgy for Easter in Sarajevo was served at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God.

The Easter liturgy was served by Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia.

According to belief, Jesus Christ rose on the third day after his death, and this holiday celebrates the victory of life over death. Easter is celebrated for three days, and greetings are exchanged with the words "Christ is risen - He is risen indeed."

After the liturgy, believers gather at home, mostly in a family setting, around a table with traditional dishes, as well as the inevitable painted eggs.

Incidentally, the egg is a symbol of the renewal of nature and life, and of joy for both those who give and those who receive it. Eggs are painted on Good Friday, and the most commonly used color is red, which, according to Christian belief, symbolizes Jesus' blood.
