Peaceful protests on June 2 in front of the OHR: 'Our homeland needs us, let us prevent the final act of its political siege'

(Patria) - The Association of Independent Intellectuals Circle 99 has called on citizens to attend a public warning to the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) on June 2 in front of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) building in Sarajevo.

"We inform the public that the gathering will be held on Tuesday, June 2, at 6:00 PM, and not on Monday - as previously announced. The reason is the need for additional technical preparations," Circle 99 stated today.

Recall, from yesterday's regular session titled "How can Bosnia and Herzegovina emerge from the new political siege?" Circle 99 warned that our country is facing a historic turning point and a final attempt at constitutional and territorial destruction of the country.

The President of Circle 99, Adil Kulenović, stated that a state does not fall when it loses territory, but when people stop believing it is worth defending.

He sharply criticized certain centers of power within the PIC that are announcing a reduction of the High Representative's powers and the relativization of decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- That is not reform - it is a withdrawal of international protection at a time when separatism and ethno-territorial divisions are more aggressive than at any time since the end of the war.

Forces that want to divide state property and territory are today pressuring to weaken the High Representative. If the international community gives in, it will send a message that Dayton is open for revision - Kulenović said.

Circle 99 has therefore issued an official invitation to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of party affiliation, to come out for mass and peaceful protests in front of the OHR building in Sarajevo.

These are the three key demands of Circle 99 and the citizens:

‣ Preservation of the existing powers of the High Representative until all rulings of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina are implemented and a functional mechanism for the protection of the state is established, along with the reform of the imposed Constitution based on civic democratic principles;

‣ Uncompromising respect and execution of all decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina - no political option may relativize them;

‣ Clear and decisive opposition to any attempt at territorial division or transfer of competencies from the state to the entities, especially regarding state territory, property, and borders.

On platform X, Azra Zornić, an applicant before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, also spoke out.

"Our homeland needs us! Monday, June 2 at 6:00 PM in front of the OHR is the line beyond which there is no retreat - we must come out in tens of thousands to prevent the final act of the political siege and the nailing of the last nail into the coffin of sovereignty at the upcoming PIC," Zornić said.
