KS Minister of Health: We will make maximum efforts to help children with autism

Hundreds of parents of children with autism and other similar conditions in Sarajevo have been demanding for years that the authorities provide them with an adequate health institution where their children can have their teeth extracted or repaired under general anesthesia, as it is practically impossible to do otherwise.

However, their needs have not yet been met, or doctors have to break existing laws to help the most severe cases, which happens very rarely in practice.

Nevertheless, it seems that the ordeal may soon come to an end. The newly elected Minister of Health in Sarajevo Canton, Dr. Emira Tanović-Mikulec, told the BiH news agency Patria that she is aware of the difficulties faced by parents and their children and that she will make maximum efforts to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

It is not just children with autism, the minister adds. It is an entire group of children and adults in BiH who can resolve dental or similar health problems only if doctors put them under general anesthesia, writes NAP.
