
Minister of Defence of BiH Marina Pendeš received the President of the Institute for Inclusive Security from Washington, H.E. Ambassador Swanee Hunt, with whom she discussed promoting gender equality, the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, and the implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of this Resolution, reports the Patria News Agency.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of BiH Muhamed Smajić and the Vice President of the Institute for Inclusive Security Miki Jačević.
During the talks, opinions were exchanged on raising awareness and promoting gender equality in the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH, as well as modalities for improving cooperation in the coming period.
Minister Pendeš emphasized that the Ministry of Defence has received its first trainers for gender equality, who will train members of the MoD and AF BiH in the coming period, and establish and expand a network of trainers for gender equality, while particularly emphasizing that the Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC) is a leading institution in the region regarding training stemming from UN Resolution 1325.
Ambassador Swanee Hunt expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of BiH in this area so far and offered the assistance of the Institute for Inclusive Security for the implementation of the Action Plan and the fulfillment of the goals and obligations from UN Security Council Resolution 1325, it was announced from the Ministry of Defence of BiH.
