Minister Dilberović Congratulates World Roma Day

Federal Minister of Education and Science Elvira Dilberović sent congratulations to all Roma in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of World Roma Day, inviting Roma associations and organizations to even better cooperation and partnership in order to realize the right of Roma children to education, reports the Patria News Agency.

- The Federal Ministry of Education and Science continuously promotes the education of Roma through various programs and projects in order to include as many Roma children and youth as possible in the education system, and to ensure equal opportunities for schooling for all.

In previous years, this ministry has supported a significant number of projects aimed at increasing the attendance rate of preschool, primary, and secondary education for children of Roma nationality and their better integration into the education system. Financial support has also been provided for all Roma students in the Federation of BiH who achieved excellent success during their primary and secondary education, as well as for all full-time Roma students studying at public higher education institutions in the Federation of BiH - Minister Dilberović reminded.

Bearing in mind the fact that the unfavorable position of Roma can be overcome if they are provided with equal opportunities in the field of education, Minister Dilberović emphasized that the Federal Ministry of Education and Science will continue to implement programs and projects aimed at supporting the schooling of children and youth of Roma nationality this year as well.

In this regard, she invited the Roma community to cooperate and partner with the primary obligation and task of encouraging as many Roma as possible to pursue education, as a prerequisite for solving their social and existential issues.

Otherwise, World Roma Day is celebrated in honor of the first World Roma Congress, one of the most important events in the history of the Roma.

Bosnia and Herzegovina joins countries around the world in celebrating World Roma Day, highlighting the common origin, language, and culture of the Roma, and the importance of preserving their identity, it was announced from this ministry.
