Ministry of Health of ZDK allocates 100,000 BAM for program activities of associations focusing on malignant diseases and diabetes

(Patria) - Minister of Health of Zenica-Doboj Canton Dr. Aida Salčinović presented over the past two days to representatives of citizens' associations the Decisions on the allocation of funds for financing program activities in the field of health with a focus on malignant diseases and diabetes.

The funds were provided from the Budget of Zenica-Doboj Canton for 2025.

The Ministry of Health issued on July 16, 2025, a Public Call for the allocation of funds to citizens' associations in the field of health registered in the area of Zenica-Doboj Canton. Associations dealing with gathering and supporting patients with malignant diseases, diabetes, as well as other health issues, had the right to participate.

Based on the conducted procedure and the proposal of the Commission for Evaluation and Ranking of received projects, funds were allocated in individual amounts to the following associations: Association of Women Suffering from and Treated for Breast Cancer and Other Cancers "Budućnost-ZA" Zavidovići, Citizens' Association "Život" Zenica, Association of Women Suffering from Cancer "Srcem zajedno" Visoko, Association "Biram život" Žepče, Society for the Fight against Diabetes "Sugar" Tešanj, Association of Children with Type 1 Diabetes "Slatka djeca" Kakanj, and Diabetic Association "Diabet" Visoko.

- Associations of this type, established with the aim of providing psychological assistance and support in realizing the rights of patients with malignant diseases and diabetes, represent an important driver of initiatives for improving patient healthcare. We are aware that long and complicated procedures can often discourage patients, and through this support we wanted to clearly show our commitment to being at the service of citizens. Our goal is to secure funds and concretely help associations operating in the field of health – emphasized Minister Dr. Aida Salčinović.

She added that she has been implementing this practice for the second consecutive year, and that this year, in addition to associations dealing with malignant diseases, a wider group of associations providing support to people with diabetes and other chronic diseases has been included.

Given that not all funds intended for these purposes have been spent based on the published call, we inform citizens' associations in the field of health from the area of Zenica-Doboj Canton that the Ministry of Health has published a new Public Call on the Canton's website, until the total planned funds in the Canton Budget for 2025 are spent.
