Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton declares end of measles epidemic

(Patria) - The Minister of Health of Sarajevo Canton, Enis Hasanović, has issued an order to end the measles epidemic (morbilli) in Sarajevo Canton. This decision follows the absence of new reported cases in Sarajevo Canton, which clearly indicates the cessation of the spread of infection.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton states that a total of 4,526 cases of measles have been reported since the beginning of the epidemic in January 2024. According to data from the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton, 4,505 cases were registered in 2024, while 21 cases have been recorded in 2025 to date.

"Although the epidemic has ended, we appeal to all citizens to continue with measles vaccination. Vaccination is the only and best protection not only against measles but also against many other infectious diseases. Vaccines protect not only you but also the most vulnerable – young children, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems. Together, we can prevent new epidemics," the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton urges.
