Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Zenica-Doboj Canton and Srebrenica Memorial Center Strengthen Institutional Cooperation

(Patria) - Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Zenica-Doboj Canton Mirza Mušija attended the scientific conference "Srebrenica in a Global Context - Towards a Permanent UN Framework for Remembrance, Responsibility and Action", held at the Srebrenica Memorial Center.

Given that the conference's goal is to strengthen the international framework for institutionalized remembrance, combat genocide denial, and convey the truth to new generations, a meeting was held between the Minister and representatives of the Memorial Center, led by Director Emir Suljagić.

Based on the need to strengthen institutional cooperation for the purpose of preserving the truth about the genocide in Srebrenica, developing a culture of remembrance, educating youth, and empowering the educational system through verified and professionally grounded educational content, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Zenica-Doboj Canton and the Srebrenica Memorial Center.



The Memorandum provides for the implementation of content from the Manual "Srebrenica: From Siege to Genocide (1992-1995) and Lasting Consequences" in educational institutions in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, strengthening the awareness and competencies of teachers and professional associates for teaching about the genocide in Srebrenica, with a pedagogically-psychologically and didactically-methodologically adapted approach, as well as expert and operational support from the Memorial Center to teachers and schools in preparing and conducting lessons, thematic days, projects, and other activities related to learning about genocide and the culture of remembrance.

The goal of this cooperation is to improve the quality of educational content and teaching practices in the area of the culture of remembrance, strengthen the institutional approach to learning about the genocide in Srebrenica in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, ensure the availability of expert resources and educational materials from the Memorial Center to schools and teachers, and commemorate important dates and foster a culture of remembrance through the educational process, in accordance with valid regulations and curricula.
