Ministry of Veterans' Affairs: Scholarships for five children of demobilized soldiers

 

 

The Ministry of Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton will donate funds to the association "Education builds BiH" for the scholarship of five children of demobilized soldiers in the next school year. This was announced by the relevant minister Muharem Fišo during today's visit to this association, reports the Patria News Agency.

-The Ministry has decided to redirect part of the funds planned for the marking of this year's "Days of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH" event, which were intended for paying for the engagement of artists, to the scholarship of these children, explained Minister Fišo.

The association "Education builds BiH" has been helping and providing scholarships to children of victims of the past war in BiH, disabled and talented children, providing them with school supplies and sports equipment, printing and selling annual calendars, and organizing charity concerts and art auctions for 21 years.

Since its founding to date, the Association has provided scholarships to about 5,700 children.

-We have allocated about 2,700,000 euros for their scholarships, and we provide the largest part of these funds from the sale of calendars. Every year we sell 25 to 30 thousand calendars and thus secure about 50 scholarships, stated the executive director and founder of the Association, Jovan Divjak, on this occasion.

He thanked the Ministry's representatives for the initiative, and informed them about the procedures for realizing these scholarships and the obligations that future scholarship holders will have to fulfill. As a token of gratitude, he presented them with a Monograph titled "Twenty Years in the Atmosphere of Children" and a "Map of the Defense of Sarajevo" created by a member of their association.

On this occasion, Minister Fišo also informed Divjak about the new concept of organizing the "Days of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH" event, which will include a large number of young people, and invited him, as a former general, humanist, and a person with great experience in working with young people, to participate in the organization, it was announced from the Ministry.
