(Patria) - The United States has not submitted a request for agreement for a new ambassador to Russia, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in an interview with TASS.
"We really have no idea when the US administration will send a request for agrément for a new ambassador. There hasn't even been any 'sounding out' of communication in this regard," Ryabkov said.
The US diplomatic mission in Moscow is currently led by a chargé d'affaires ad interim, and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has "working and constantly functioning communication" with him, he added.
Lynne Tracy, the previous US ambassador to Russia, completed her term in June 2025.
