Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Appeal to citizens to refrain from lighting fires outdoors

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina appeals to citizens to refrain from lighting fires while cleaning and maintaining fields and orchards, given that in recent days there has been an increase in the number of outdoor fires.

Firefighters and other services have dozens of interventions daily, and in some cases they cannot cope with the fire element on their own. The Operational-Communication Center of Bosnia and Herzegovina 112 yesterday simultaneously received requests for the engagement of helicopters for firefighting at fire sites in Srebrenik, Ruište, Čvrsnica, Tuzla, Prozor-Rama and Lukavac, the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated. 

They remind that it is forbidden to burn weeds and other agricultural waste without taking all measures to prevent the spread of fire and without prior notification of the fire department. Fires can very easily get out of control, spreading to forest areas, residential buildings, and thereby endangering human lives.
