Ministry of Economy of Zenica-Doboj Canton: Contracts signed for the construction of industrial zones with four local communities

(Patria) - Contracts for the construction of industrial zones were signed today at the Ministry of Economy of Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) with the City of Zavidovići and the municipalities of Tešanj, Usora, and Olovo.

The agreements enable further investments by the ZDK Government in the infrastructure of industrial zones and provide support to local communities and investors.

The Minister of Economy of ZDK, Samir Šibonjić, emphasized that the Ministry and the Government continuously invest in industrial zones, creating the best possible conditions for companies and investors.

- The growth of industrial production in ZDK in the first 11 months of this year was around 10 percent compared to the same period in 2024, and our exports are continuously growing.

We have done everything that was up to us; now we are building new IT centers where we see them as modern industrial zones.

Our goal is to strengthen ZDK, to strengthen our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we can only achieve that with a strong economy and a developed environment - Šibonjić stated.

The Mayor of Zavidovići, Erna Merdić Smailhodžić, thanked Minister Šibonjić and the ZDK Government, led by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić, for their continuous support to local communities through public calls.

She explained that the City of Zavidovići received 100,000 KM for infrastructure works in the Majdanska Polja industrial zone in both the first and second calls, and the start of implementation is expected at the beginning of next year.

- Unfortunately, Zavidovići is one of the nine local communities that the Government of the Federation of BiH did not support with the latest distribution for local self-government units in FBiH, so this support from the ZDK Government, which is always there when it comes to local communities in this canton, means a lot to us - said Merdić Smailhodžić.

The Assistant Head of the Municipality of Usora, Ivica Labudović, emphasized the importance of the Ministry's support in the realization of the third phase of the Ularice city zone construction project, noting that the Ministry's support has reached millions so far and has enabled significant economic development of the municipality.

- The economic development we have experienced in recent years would certainly not have been possible without that support, so we are very grateful to the Ministry of Economy and Minister Šibonjić - said Labudović.

The signed contracts represent a concrete continuation of the ZDK Government's policy of investing in the economy and local communities, with the aim of strengthening industrial zones, encouraging employment, and developing the economy throughout the canton.
