Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH has not yet drafted the Budget Law, analyzing requests from budget users

(Patria) - The budget of BiH institutions has not yet been sent for procedure. The Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH explained to Patria the stage of adoption of the Budget for 2024. In the meantime, BiH institutions are under temporary financing.

The Ministry reminds that on January 23rd this year, the Fiscal Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Global Framework of Fiscal Balance and Policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2024 - 2026, which set the financing framework for Bosnia and Herzegovina institutions at 1,355.4 million KM, which is 40 million KM more than in 2023.

"Following this fact, a Supplement to the Instruction for allocating funds from the Budget for 2024 was sent to budget users, requesting that Bosnia and Herzegovina institutions analyze the submitted request for the 2024 Budget, align it with any new priorities, taking into account rational planning, and submit the requested data to the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina no later than February 12, 2024, which has been done.

The Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH is currently analyzing the requests of budget users in accordance with the Supplement to the Instruction. After that, the drafting of the Budget Law will commence. Upon completion, the Draft will be submitted to the Council of Ministers, and after adoption, to the Presidency of BiH, which is the official proposer to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH", stated the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH.

When asked whether a new decision on temporary financing for the next quarter has been prepared, the Ministry did not respond.
