Minister Lukač confirmed he beat a man: I was defending children!

-I was defending children from a 20-year-old who attacked them, I did not attack him, claims Minister of Internal Affairs of RS Dragan Lukač in an open letter after it was revealed that the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Banja Luka filed an indictment against him for causing minor bodily injuries. In an attempt to defend the children, as he claims, from the attacker, identified as D. Spasojević, Lukač admits that he pushed him, reports the Patria News Agency.

"I knocked him to the ground using a hold on his arm and held him down with the intention of calming him. At the same time, he tried to hit me with his legs, during which injuries in the form of abrasions and scratches occurred because he was lying on the asphalt and trying to break free from the hold all the time, saying 'let me go, I'll kill them all'", the letter stated.

Spasojević, Lukač says, wanted to attack the children because one of them had previously hit his 8-year-old sister during play. After holding him on the ground for several minutes, the attacker, he recounts in the letter, calmed down and left. Last year, when all this happened, he was not a minister, but he states that he would react the same way even now, at the risk of a prison sentence. He suspects the motives of the District Public Prosecutor's Office.

-It is obvious that the prosecutor's office wants to make a name for itself by filing an indictment against a minister. I hope they will be as diligent in the future towards criminals and robbers who, after being apprehended by the police and questioned, are immediately released without detention for reasons known only to them, Lukač states in an open letter.

The indictment filed by the prosecutor's office against Lukač on June 12 has not yet been confirmed. Officials at the Basic Court declined to comment on camera today.

ATV officially received a message that the "Lukač" case is in procedure. More information from the Court is expected today. Dragan Lukač states in his letter that the indictment will be confirmed in court so that he can face the prosecutor and his arguments.

Therefore, there are no arguments about this case for the Prime Minister at the moment.

"I am not at all familiar with this, I read something in the media, but I am not familiar with the substance at all. So, I will have to get informed," said Željka Cvijanović.

While the Prime Minister is getting informed, the District Public Prosecutor's Office should comment on the criminal complaint filed against D. Spasojević by Dragan Lukač's wife and their neighbor. The minister assures that he will not influence the Prosecutor's Office, nor the Basic Court regarding the confirmation of the indictment, ATV reported.
