Minister Kurić receives the only blind Bosnian sprinter

(Patria) - Omar Bojčić, a nineteen-year-old blind athlete, is the only Bosnian track and field sprinter in the T11 category who will compete at the Junior World Para Athletics Championships in Switzerland at the end of this month and the beginning of the next. On this occasion, he was received today by the Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, Mirvad Kurić.

"It is our duty and obligation to support Omar in his endeavor to achieve the best possible result," emphasized Minister Kurić.

He also stressed that he has no doubt that young Omar will do everything to return with a good result from this competition and wished him much luck and success in his future sports competitions, as well as in life. The Ministry of Culture and Sports of KS will fully cover the costs of Omar and his team's participation in this championship.

"This support from Minister Kurić and the Ministry means a lot to me, I will do everything to achieve the best possible result," said the young Bosnian para-athlete.

He added that he is aware that this Ministry continuously supports sports, especially disability sports. Omar was born on 05/22/2000. After losing his sight at the age of 12, he does not give up and participates in various sports, in which he has won many medals and trophies. In mid-2018, he started training athletics at the Novi Grad Sarajevo Athletics Club for People with Disabilities, where he achieved notable results. In addition to this competition, Omar's goal is to achieve the best possible result at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Omar achieved notable results at a recently held competition in Ljubljana; he won a gold medal in the 100-meter race, and in the 400-meter race, which is not his primary discipline, he won a silver medal.
