Minister Helez and German Ambassador Officially Opened Renovated Facility at BiH Armed Forces Barracks 'Butila'

(Patria) - Minister of Defence of BiH Zukan Helez and German Ambassador Alfred Grannas today officially opened the renovated facility at the BiH Armed Forces Barracks 'Butila' by cutting the ribbon.

The official opening ceremony of the facility was attended by high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH, representatives of the German Embassy, and other guests and members of the BiH Armed Forces.

This valuable project, a donation from Germany to the BiH Armed Forces location 'Butila', amounting to 480,000 euros, represents significant support in improving the infrastructure at the location used by the BiH Armed Forces and a great contribution to the work and stay of the members of the BiH Armed Forces at the same location.

In the period so far, Technical Agreements totaling 24,524,000 euros have been signed between the Ministry of Defence of BiH and the Federal Republic of Germany.

Furthermore, several infrastructure projects are in various stages of implementation - with financial support through donations from the Federal Republic of Germany.

It is important to mention that the continuation of German financial support for 2027 is in preparation through donations for infrastructure works at BiH Armed Forces locations.

Minister Helez, in his address, thanked for this, as well as for all previous German donations.

He particularly emphasized that Germany currently holds the leading position in investing in the infrastructure projects of the BiH Armed Forces, with total allocations amounting to approximately 25 million euros to date.

- Your Excellency, allow me to express, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence of BiH and the Armed Forces of BiH, sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Germany for this valuable and continuous support.

Germany is not only a partner assisting in the development of the BiH Armed Forces, but it is our sincere and reliable friend providing strong and significant support to BiH as a whole - said Helez addressing Ambassador Grannas.

He added that he hopes the cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany will continue to develop and deepen, for mutual benefit and in the interest of regional and European security.

Ambassador Grannas thanked for the good cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces of BiH and Germany, and expressed his conviction that further German support for the BiH Armed Forces will not be lacking.

This donation in the infrastructure segment further enhances the operational and logistical capacities, as well as the working and training conditions for the members of the BiH Armed Forces.

This directly contributes to strengthening the readiness, professionalism, and interoperability of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
