(Patria) - Minister Damir Gazdić today visited young chess player Merjem Džafić in Gračanica, a member of the Gračanica Chess Club, who, by winning first place at the state championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, earned the right to participate in the World Chess Championship to be held in October in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
Congratulating her on qualifying, the minister said that athletes are the best ambassadors of our country and Canton, and promised that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Tuzla Canton and the Government of Tuzla Canton will continue to provide institutional support to athletes selflessly within their capabilities. The minister also stated that effort and hard work always pay off and never go unnoticed, and that those who work and train diligently like Merjem, thereby setting a good example for society and the community, can always count on financial support from the relevant ministry.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Tuzla Canton will, within its competencies, secure funds for the participation of a competitor from the Tuzla Canton area in the World Championship.
